As supporters of the Bat Conservation Trust over the years, we are delighted that their Count Bat Project has made it through to the semi-finals of the annual Lottery Good Causes Awards. The Count Bat Project was formed to encourage people to get involved in bat conservation in their local area and discover more about the natural world.
We hope that you will join us in backing this great cause by voting for them at www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk awards and click on Best Environment Project, followed by the Count Bat Project. Alternatively you can call 0844 686 1105 (calls cost 5p from a BT landline).
Another NCG twist on a popular recipe, but if you’re thinking we’ve taken a step too far, putting rice into a traditional pasta soup, look again. The spherical grains are in fact Orzo pasta (yes, pasta)!
Our twist involves little chunks of courgettes, peas, basil, parsley and peppery rocket, making this Minestrone a beautiful green soup. A light and summery alternative to the traditional red classic. Click here to find out more!
Due to the current stories surrounding soup and dieting like this BBC news article, we thought we’d take this opportunity to remind you about our ‘Shape up with Soup’ healthy eating plan.
The 2 week-plan is so straight forward - you just have to swap either your lunch or dinner for one of our 12 soups from our list. Click here for more details.
Our newest soup of the month flavour - Hey Pesto, is really quite magical. By this I mean, it tastes delicious AND it’s good for you, scoring all greens on the traffic light system. The mixture of tomatoes with courgettes and green beans, along with the kick from basil pesto (nut free), is a winning combination and perfectly light for this time of year. All you really need is a slice of bread to dunk with and Hey Pesto* you’re sorted!
*Sorry… Please feel free to let me know what you think
OK, hands up - who got their BBQ out at the weekend? Yep, spring is almost here and to help with the transition from cold to well…. almost warm, we’ve launched a brand new Soup of the Month - Yellow Split Pea & Smoked Bacon. Its vibrant colour and fresh ingredients make it the most perfect soup for springtime. We all know a British spring is no guarantee of nice weather, so we’re still offering that warming lift when the clouds come over - as they so often do!
Has anyone tried our new soup of the month – Vegetable Balti - yet? If ever there was a need for a hearty dish then this soup is perfect! In fact it could constitute a whole meal as it contains everything from the rice to the spice to give it a real authentic taste. If meat is your thing, try cooking some lamb and using the soup to make a stew – its delicious, believe me- I’ve done it!
Our iconic cartons attract much discussion from you all. Like an old-fashioned milk carton, they are sealed tightly to protect our wonderful fresh and natural ingredients.
In the past this has led to some of you commenting that they are difficult to open, but from my experience, if you pull the corners of the carton back from opposite sides you can’t go wrong…
However as everyone has different theories on the best way-please feel free to share your ‘top tips’ with others below!
And remember, the more of our delicious soups that you try, the more practice you get at opening them!
We all give into temptation and overindulge at Christmas and why not? But if all that rich food has taken its toll, now is the time to do something about it! So, to help you keep those New Year’s resolutions, we have created a delicious new soup recipe for January and a brand new Shape Up with Soup eating plan. And to provide you with a little inspiration, we asked actress Debra Stephenson to give the eating plan a try too! Find out more about our healthy eating plan here.
New Covent Garden Food Co. are working with the Salvation Army this winter to help vulnerable people get back on their feet through practical ways… Look out for our December Soup of the Month – Chicken Vegetable and Pearl Barley - as each carton sold will be helping to raise funds for the Salvation Army’s Resettlement Centre programme. These nationwide centres teach people invaluable skills such as cooking and the importance of nutrition to help equip them for life once they leave the centre.
We’re hoping to raise over £10,000 with sales of
our Christmas Soup of the Month alone!
We’re also inviting you to help us raise money by holding your own Soup Kitchen fundraising events…
It’s simple – especially if you like making soup and entertaining!

All we’re asking you to do is to treat your family, friends, colleagues, school friends, or neighbours to a delicious bowl of soup, made by you, using one of the delicious recipes that our chefs at New Covent Garden Food Co. have created for this occasion.
The most praiseworthy fundraising event will win a family weekend break to London to see a carol concert on the 13th December at The Royal Albert Hall. Just what you need to get you in the Christmas spirit!
This promotion has now ended.
